Yesterday after we dropped the sails and began to motor, everyone took the time to relax on board. The boat's autopilot was great, point her where we wanted to go and that's that! We had our lines out but didn't get any hits on the way. Well, we did catch something... A 20 foot trawler. Ran right over our lines... Bah!
Tell you what. Norman to Leverick is about 16 miles, but when there's 20+ knots and it's all upwind, it makes for an interesting time, waves splashing everywhere. Yup, this is the life.
As we got to the channel markers we saw that familiar red roof. We have a slip reserved, as our host, Nick Willis, and his lovely wife Monica have given us a dockage and electric for the night at a very awesome rate!
Docking was....interesting, it's been a long long long time since I've gotten to try that out, and yup, they want me to back in... HA! after two attempts, I decide to just head in where they want me to back... That should be easy, right? Well let me say this, 20 knots of wind can really screw things up, and I wish my boat was one big fender! No permanent damage and lines are on, and we were welcomed by many friends.
Chris is the organizer of the fishing tourney, and he helped clean the catch into tuna filets, and king fish steaks.... And oh yeah, so far one of our crew is winning the tourney' Go Ben!!!
We got cleaned up and made kabobs on the grill and had several visitors on board La Bella Vita. We ended up dancing at the bar for another 2 hours and then finishing off the night sitting by the beach watching the boats... It was an awesome night at a beautiful place,
So I'm up and the sun just now broke the horizon, gonna get a shower and this morning will consist of laundry, boat cleanup, and relaxing by the pool. If you want to see us LIVE right now... Go to http://leverickbay.org/webcam.htm
(it's 650...)
Stay tuned!
