brian and I stayed out at the love shack til around midnight. We had a
good time, and even met some jersey girls who knew one of Johns old
studets...too. Oh yeah and Brian might try and meet up with one of
them again hahah!!
Got to sleep in the cabin and I'll tell you what, hot and muggy it
was! I got some great sleep but around 4 one of the marina mates
deided his boat was awesome and his speakers were great so he cranked
up his music. About 30 min later I reminded the drunk that it was 430!!
Up at 7 and made coffee, percolator style!!! We got showers, fueled up
and got some water, then prepared to get under way around noon. We had
our first lesson on PFDs , emergency equipment, flares, and boat
safety...
After a break we got some first hand knot tying experence and then
cast off the lines to head out!! Leaving the harbor we all got the
chance to be on the helm under motor. We got the sails up, one reef
today, and got some experience tacking. We all took turns on each
position while we sailed eastward. Off in the distance we saw Foxys
regatta taking place...
Ok so we practiced Heaving To , basicly stopping while the sails are
up, and that was pretty much the coolest concept, but anyone who sails
would have to assume that the person doing this for the first time
actually did something wrong, but then realized it would be a usefull
concept!!
Headed back to Maho Bay on St John and I GRABBED THE MOORING ON THE
FIRST TRY!! go me!
We were BEAT but also hot and sweaty, so as soon as we stowed the
sailing gear I just jumped overboard!!! The water was so nice and it
felt so good, but I'll be honest, it was pretty bad visibity. Saw tons
of fish snorkeling and spent an hour swimming.
Dinner tonight was Mahi MahI and mac n cheese, yum.. mobes cooked on
the grill and it was AMAZING! Cleaned up and now were just relaxin,
limin, and drinking the night away. so great to be here and havin a
BLAST!
