woke up aroun 7-8 and had breakfast, coffee and all and by nine we
were having our first morning lecture on clearing customs to get into
the BVI. After th-at we cleaned up and motored around st john and got
into West End. Since we were there but HADNT cleared customs we raised
a quarrnteen flag and capt Erin went ashore for paperwork while we
made lunch.
When she came back we went ahead and we were able to raise the
courtesy flag letting them know we were cleared in.
We quickly got underway and sails up. One reef today and a 60%jib
because the wind was about 12-17 knots. We all went over helm
commands, tacking, heaving to, and general sailing by feel. I can't
WAIT to have Meagan experence this!!!
Most of the day we spent on a broad reach, the fastest point of sail,
and got about 6 knots.... We were headed for the bight a Norman island
but we ended up stopping by the caves to do some snorkeling. OMG that
was AMAZING!!! onceagain gotta bring Meagan!
Grabbed a ball at the bight and immideately got hatches open then took
our ASA 101
exam. 100 questions and I only got one wrong but I flipped around my
bubbles on the sheet so I marked two others incorrectly.. Oh well!!
I'M NOW IN THE American Sailing Association... Tomorrow starts 103...
Dinner was kabobs on the grill and they were AMAZING. but we all
quickly got ready to head to the Willy T. This is a floating bar/
resturaunt. The party gets pretttttty wild... But to be honest, it
seemed pretty reserved from some of the stories I have heard. Suffice
it to say Brian, Steven and I had a GOOD time, our bartender reallllly
enjoyed our boat and kept handing us drink after drink on the house
(or on the boat? Hahha)
Cut to this morning, I wake up sleeping on the boom in the stack pack
(sail cover) with my clothes on and my contacts in... That sucked
mainly because I had no way of getting down and I had to use the
head!!! Eventually "fell" out of the pack and headed down below to
make coffee. What a night ha!
One more note, the mooring fee collector came by at 630 AM to get the
mooring fee... Who's up then?!?!
I'll keep updating but as we sail east I'll loose signal and frequency
of updates. I'll hve to get wifi to do that soon... Stay tuned!!!
